Cargobase Launches Automated Rate Card Feature
[Singapore, 7 January 2019] – Cargobase, the platform for enterprise shippers to manage on-demand freight announced the launch of their automated rate card feature. Shippers can now upload their pre-agreed rates and have the platform calculate the total cost based on their on-demand shipment request. The feature is available for regular air, express air, ocean, and road freight. and will be made available later in the year for rail freight.
Cargobase has always focussed on helping shippers to improve and bring online the processes for on-demand freight requests without a pre-agreed rate. By having now the option to automatically calculate a quote based on pre-agreed rates, the shipper can make bookings even faster without having to worry about the turn-around time of a quote by the logistics service provider. The shipper is now also in the position to have logistics operations stick to booking pre-agreed rates without going to the spot-buy market, or check if the spot-buy market has something better to offer in terms of pricing and transit time.
The automated rate card feature has been built to support the basic accessorials to calculate the rates, such as pick up, delivery, customs clearance, and weekend surcharges. It is able to support lanes between ports, regions, zipcodes and actual addresses.
“We’ve always stayed away from rate cards as we believed it was a feature that had to be extremely flexible given the fact that every shipper is using their own rate card template. Now we have built the basics, we are seeing the opposite and shippers adjust and simplify their rate cards to our feature.” – Wiebe Helder, CEO, Cargobase
Automated rate calculation is not entirely new to Cargobase, as it supports already a similar service for Parcel shipments. Enterprise shippers are able to automatically generate rate and book shipment using their direct account with the parcel providers. This service is supported by using API technology that communicates directly with the major global parcel providers.
Cargobase is an award-winning platform for global enterprise shippers to manage on-demand freight. Cargobase helps enterprise shippers to reduce logistics spend and save time with quoting, booking, management, and analysis of on-demand air, ocean, parcel, rail and road shipments from their private pool of logistics providers.
The platform is built with the latest technology to make it easily customizable, user-friendly and yet robust to perform well as a stand-alone or integrated with enterprise software.
It is available in any modern web-browser and on the Cargobase On-The-Go mobile app for iOS and Android. Cargobase was incorporated in 2013 and has offices in Singapore (HQ) and Delhi, India.
